A Letter From Our Executive Director

To the TCI Community,

I want to take this opportunity to bring you all up to date on the many programs and events we have planned for the spring and summer.  First and foremost is our Breakfast for Champions featuring Gloria Steinem, which will be held on June 4th at the Westin Copley Place.  An advocate for women’s rights and equality for more than four decades, Gloria Steinem has become an American feminist icon as the founder of Ms. Magazine and an influential co-convener of the National Women’s Political Caucus.  I am also delighted to announce our entrepreneurial speakers who will share their lessons learned at the Breakfast --TCI members Laura Trust of Finagle a Bagel and Holly Safford of The Catered Affair.  Ticket prices and sponsorship information are available on our website—we recommend you register early, as seats are limited.  We are also offering a discount for those of you considering membership that would like to attend the Breakfast (please contact Pat Cooper, pcooper@commonwealthinstitute.org, for more details.)

On April 2nd we are holding our annual Commonwealth Conference, a half day educational program that allows a unique interaction with our expert speakers and the opportunity to meet and learn from other TCI members.  This year’s Conference theme is “Strategic Leadership,” and the program will feature a panel discussion followed by small group breakout sessions led by our panelists.  Our luncheon speaker, Ronna Lichtenberg, is the author of “Pitch Like a Girl: How a Woman Can be Herself and Still Succeed” and the president of management-consulting firm Clear Peak Communications.  This event sold out quickly, but please let us know if you would like to be added to our waiting list.

We have two additional programs we are planning for this spring that we are very excited about.  The first is a half-day workshop on personal and leadership branding in a down market, facilitated by TCI member and personal branding expert Sue Hodgkinson. The second, “Every Cloud Has a Silver Lining: Making Market Conditions Work for You,” is an event sponsored by Atlantic Trust which will address how business owners can use the economic slowdown to their advantage. Additionally, please keep an eye out for an invitation for our annual “Lunch with the Board” event later this spring.

Lastly, we will be starting three new Commonwealth Forums for CEOs – one is specially designed for those running professional service firms, one will be held in the evening to accommodate those CEOs who find it difficult to attend early morning forums, and one will be held on the North Shore to accommodate entrepreneurs and CEOs in northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire.  If you are interested in learning more about these forums, please contact our Director of Business Development, Pat Cooper, at pcooper@commonwealthinstitute.org.

We are anticipating an exciting program schedule heading into spring 2008.  As always, please let us know what you would like to see on the upcoming program calendar—your feedback remains a valuable tool in our planning.  I look forward to seeing many of you at the Breakfast For Champions on June 4th!

Thank you,

Aileen Gorman
