Deborah Linda Natansohn Memorial Scholarship

The Commonwealth Institute (TCI) South Florida and the Deborah L. Natansohn (DLN) Foundation are proud to sponsor one deserving individual from a non-profit organization to receive one year’s admission into a Commonwealth Forum for CEOs and Senior Executive Women. TCI is a dynamic non-profit organization founded in 1997 to help women entrepreneurs, CEOs, and senior corporate executives build successful businesses.  The goal of the Institute is to reach women leaders during the critical stages of their business and to provide them with the tools and resources they need for growth.  The cornerstone of TCI’s approach is peer mentoring in a confidential, small group atmosphere.  Each Commonwealth Forum for CEOs provides a confidential non-competitive environment for 8-10 women chief executives to meet monthly to share challenges and develop growth strategies.  The $1950.00 scholarship will enable an outstanding women executive of a non-profit organization to participate in this professionally facilitated forum and gain access to the expert resources that develop confidence and leadership.

The scholarship honors the commitment of Deborah Natansohn, past President and participating Forum Member of TCI, South Florida to the professional advancement of women.  Before her untimely death in October 2006, Debbie was a groundbreaker for executive women in the travel industry, having been named as the first female President of a cruise line, Orient Lines, in the US in 1998.  At the time of her death, she was President of Seabourn Cruise Line and had guided the luxury line through one of the most successful periods in its history. Previously, as senior vice president for sales and marketing at Cunard Lines, she was instrumental in overseeing the highly acclaimed launch of the Queen Mary 2.  A widely recognized leader for women in business, Debbie was named in 2004 as Travel Executive of the Year by Travel Trade Magazine. In 2006, Debbie was honored with a Glass Ceiling Award by the Jewish Museum of Florida and named one of Florida’s top 50 women business leaders by The Center for Leadership at Florida International University. In 2007 she was posthumously inducted into the Cruise Lines International Association’s Hall of Fame.  In addition to serving as president of TCI, South Florida, she was a forum member and mentor to many in the organization. She was also a member of the International Women’s Forum and a participant in the Miami-Dade School District’s Executive PASS program, which matches local chief executives with school principals to further the success of their schools.
